The course Monetary and Financial Statistics is a week-long program delivered by Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), at the JVI. Designed for officials involved in compiling monetary and financial statistics, the course aims to build capacity in understanding and applying the framework used by the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
Held from November 25 to November 29, 2024, the course featured 18 lecturers, comprising experts from the central bank of Austria, who provided comprehensive insights into the monetary and financial statistics collected and compiled by the ESCB. The course covered a wide range of topics essential for the compilation of monetary and financial statistics. Participants received an overview of the monetary and financial statistics collected and compiled by the ESCB, including the legal background, types of statistics, and cooperation between national central banks and the European Central Bank.
A special focus of the course was on the practical implementation of European regulations in Austria. Participants were introduced to Austria’s integrated data model, which integrates statistical and regulatory data requirements in granular form and has become a benchmark for similar efforts across Europe.
The course attracted 30 participants from 17 different countries. The diverse group of attendees engaged deeply with the material, which included not only presentations, but also practical case studies designed to enhance their understanding further.
