Dominique Desruelle, the Director of the IMF’s Institute for Capacity Development (ICD), visited the JVI on February 16-17. He met with the participants in the course on Financial Programming and Policies, the Austrian authorities, and JVI staff.
Course participants were in the last day of the course and made group presentations where they used the knowledge learnt during the previous two weeks. The presentations focused on the macroeconomic situation and outlook of a specific country case and discussed an alternative policy scenario. In the next session, participants provided feedback to ICD Director Desruelle on the usefulness and design of the course and shared their views on how to integrate online and classroom training.
The discussion with the Austrian authorities was broad ranging and covered, among others, how to adapt the JVI curriculum and training delivery in the coming years to best meet the needs of an increasingly diverse set of countries in the JVI region. Both sides praised the excellent and productive collaboration in the context of their JVI partnership.
Many of the themes mentioned above were also covered during ICD Director Desruelle’s meeting with JVI staff. Views were exchanged on how to build on the recent experience with virtual training delivery to improve the effectiveness of JVI training, which since last summer has been delivered mostly in the classroom.
