The Applied Economic Policy (AEP) course aims to enhance the capabilities of participants to formulate and implement economic policies and to serve as policy analysts and advisors. The 2025 AEP course will feature a combination of online, virtual, and classroom segments, necessitating significant involvement of participants during a considerable period of time in 2025.
TARGET GROUP | Young officials employed by the public sector in JVI target countries. The AEP course is demanding, requiring highly motivated individuals, a university degree in economics or a related field, a minimum of two years’ professional experience, and proficiency in English. Knowledge of econometric or modeling techniques would be helpful but is not strictly required. Only individuals employed in the public sector are eligible to apply.
DESCRIPTION | The AEP course is comprehensive, covering macroeconomic concepts and policies, financial sector issues, trade policy, the Austrian political and economic system, as well as interpersonal and presentation skills. The course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of economic policymaking, strengthen their analytical skills, and enable them to formulate and implement sound economic policies.
The AEP course is offered jointly with several JVI partners. Lecturers, primary practitioners from member organizations, cover both practical and theoretical aspects of policy formulation. The Vienna segment comprises lectures, workshops, case studies, and participant presentations to foster peer-learning and networking.
