IMF Managing Director meets with JVI and IMF staff in Vienna

The IMF’s Managing Director, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, came to the JVI on May 13 for a hybrid meeting with JVI staff and IMF staff in Vienna, including relocated staff of the IMF’s Kyiv office. 

The Managing Director provided an overview of challenges facing the world economy and the Fund's role in building a more resilient world. The ensuing discussion covered several topics, such as the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine on the green transition, how the IMF could reduce its carbon footprint, and how to ensure that external support for the reconstruction of Ukraine is well used.

At the end of the hybrid meeting, the Managing Director had an exchange with in-person participants, including the IMF staff directly affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
